No problems with '77s in yesterdays mission, and I launched quite a few.

It usually happens when there is a friendly unit between you and the enemy AC you launch on. Last time it happened to me was 1.2.3. Maybe its how people are using the radar or not IDing tgts properly.

If I have to launch an ARH missile with a friendly up front, then I'd maintain constant lock to prevent the missile going pitbull on a friendly. Or at least attempt to.

That is probably the problem. People are letting them go active and breaking lock.
