The 159th Attack Wing has firmly established itself as an important part of the 159th's strike capability. Operating along side the well established and successful Fighter and Strike Wings, we give our Regiment a truly Multi Role capability. That said, we still operate at times autonomously with no support from the other wings and vice-versa, relying strictly on our own skills and tactics to keep us alive for the duration of the battle. |

| We currently operate with Vespa flight, which operates the Ka50. On our Sunday weekly squad night we focus on combat support with a secondary aim of training in order to have all AW pilots advance through the AW Grading Wings plan. That said, some times we have nothing but training, sometimes nothing but a giant furball of rotors and wings free-for-all battle. At the end, we aim to educate each other, support the other flights and have a good time doing it all. |
The Ka50 and A10c (not an official squad AC) are the most complex of the AC we fly and require a greater degree of focus and skill to get it to perform authentically. So as we expand our knowledge of the airframes we are in parallel developing and formalising operating procedures that optimise our performance both as individuals and as part of a working combat Flight or Wing. Training is the key to survival and here at the 159th AW you will find plenty of it! |

Our combat operations range across the spectrum of modern air warfare. We do CAS, Recce, DEAD, VIP escort and AFAC duties for both FW and SW. We are usually the front runners when dealing with air defence threats, clearing the way for the fast air boys so they only have to deal with other airborne threats during their mission. Vulture Flight usually deploys from a FARP, with Dragon based at Sochi Adler. |

We have come along way from our initial deployment with the 159th GAR – slapping rotors, ground vortexes and missed targets to pin-point precision attacks, all altitude flight (we try and stay low and slow) and close formation in all weather. Our SOPs are a great start for new pilots to get a grasp on the capabilities of the ‘Shark'. All pilots are encouraged to forward training ideas and lessons at all times.
